Animal Love

For those of you who do not know, or have not figured out from previous posts, Anna-Claire is an avid animal lover. When we first came to Uganda, we were told that perhaps animals are not kept as pets as much as just guards or mice catchers.
But, much to Anna-Claire's delight, that was not the case. There are obviously some animals that are kept just as guards or mice catchers, but we have also been around more that are pets.
Max, as we so dubbed him, is one that lives on the street near the hotel. He was the first fur therapy Anna-Claire enjoyed on our last trip. This time, there's so many more. But we always keep our eye out for Max.
Sara and Bruno!! These two stay at PACTA's compound and have become friends with Anna-Claire. Now that she has shared treats with them, they always come to greet her. Sara had puppies just before we arrived in the country. There were 8, but only 6 survived. When we saw Sara and Bruno for the first time, they were looking much too skinny and sickly. It was a bit scary and we were slightly afraid of them not making it much longer. But they are looking healthier now. As are the 6 adorable and friendly puppies!!
As you can tell, we have visited a couple of times and enjoyed the cuddly little girls/guys.
The cat - called Last Born - stays with Pope's family. His mom enjoys cats and they keep him around for mice, but they also enjoy his company. First time we saw him was all curled up on Pope's bed..... Now if that's not a pet, I'm not sure what would be!!
This morning we saw a dog on our way to visit a friend at the hospital (the friend was there for work, not because he was sick) and she followed us into the hospital, followed us out and down the road a ways. It was rather entertaining. We did not encourage it, but she was younger and absolutely adorable!! Everyone was entertained by the fact that she was following us, as we were delighted as well.
So, this time we have made plenty of furry friends. Fur therapy has been needed and achieved!

(Don't worry Mom, Nancy, and Jeni - I have been keeping her safe and cautious!!!  No, we have not pet the pigs, caught the chickens, or carried any cats that weren't pets. )
