My Eco-Friendly, Tree-hugging, wanna-be-Hippie side has a tough time.

Uganda is the "Pearl of Africa" and I absolutely agree with that statement.
But what makes me sad is all the trash, garbage, and other non-environmentally friendly habits that some of the people have.
Trash is thrown around. They don't have any sort of garbage system that works well. There is no recycling. Not sure the concept of recycling is even talked about beyond very few.

Rubber tires are used to make shoes and items, but then they burn the remnants. Terrible, awful, no-good, very bad smoke from that.
There's so many cars, trucks, and even bodas that have bad exhaust. That is difficult to fix, even in the states. But they also tend to sit with the vehicle running instead of turning it off. The less exhaust and fumes let out, the better.
I try to do what I can to help or at least not make things worse, but it's not easy. People have a different mindset of things. This all makes my eco-friendly (even if I'm not super great at recycling and not overly eco-friendly) actions go a bit on the fritz.
I guess I just have to learn to live with certain things. On some actions I go with the "When in Rome...." but the littering thing I definitely will not be okay with, ever.
