We knew that coming here in December would be a great change in weather. It is the dry season. It is much warmer, sunnier, and very few rain showers.

At first I thought it would be absolutely miserable and hot. But I'd have to say that even though it's pretty warm and we've definitely seen a lot of sun, I am most certainly NOT complaining. I am enjoying every bit of it, particularly since back home it is very wintery weather.
It hasn't been without any rain storms. We have continued to be lucky in the fact that we haven't been caught in a rainstorm though. That might be a little frustrating (particularly because we have a few electronics that don't work when drenched).

The couple of rainstorms we have had were in the evening and quite enjoyable. They still had all the thunder and lightning we could want. That really is my favorite with rainstorms, all the fantastic thunder and bright lightning. There were a few times that it was so close and strong that it would reverberate in our bones..... Oh yeah!

As you can imagine, the dry season is synonymous to dusty season. And we have been breathing in our fair share of dust. The rain helps though. Yes it rains at night, but even the next day the dust is not as bad. But we can't have it rain too much or it ruins all the gardens and growing season. I'm not a farmer so I'm not sure how all that works, but I know that if it rains too much during the dry season, it can ruin crops.

So we have been able to enjoy heat and sun, rain and chill, and it's been wonderful. The awesome rain clouds, but also the beautiful clear skies. We thought for sure we would see some amazing bright stars, but it's still just cloudy enough in the night that we haven't seen much. The moon has been interesting on some nights, but a few too many clouds to really see the different stars. Maybe this week we will get lucky enough for that.
Enjoy the rainbow we saw!
