Home Visit

How nice it is to be completely and totally welcomed into someone’s home. Pope invited us over to his family’s compound for dinner one day. To get away from town was quite nice. It was so quiet, peaceful and pretty out where he and his family live. His mother fed us a fabulous dinner. They gave us a tour of their compound, took us out to their fields and even gave us a tutorial on cooking malakwan. MMmm!!

Thank you so much for your generous and sweet hospitality. I am so glad that we were given the opportunity to see how a family’s compound is set up, how it works, how farming is, and how a way of life truly is in Gulu. It’s one thing to see how those in the city live, another to see how those in the rest of the area live. I liked the peace and quiet of the village, but there would also be difficulties. A lot of hard work and yet there’s rewards for all of it.

Thank you again!!!
